Announcing First Person Fortnight

First person fortnight

First Person Fortnight is a 2-week event where writers and roleplayers are encouraged to write a story in first person perspective. Submit your story to us to be judged by a panel of expert writing ninjas!

First person perspective isn’t usually used, in favour of third person perspective, so this will be a good exercise to get inside your character’s head and really get to grasp with how they think, and their outlook on life. If you’re not familiar with writing like this, give it a go, it’s only for 2 weeks! If you write like this all the time, great! You’ll find it even easier!

First Person Fortnight 2012 is now over. You can see more articles about it here.

Question… how long of a story do you want? Or more accurately, what is too long?

Good question, I’ll clarify this in a follow-up blog post

This sounds great. So excited! haha really glad I clicked the link. =)

Sounds very intriguing. I shall have to dust off my “Little, Brown Book” and “The Writers Guide”, to remember HOW to write in first person. In our R/P group “USS COMMAND: Star Trek Role Play Group, our characters “speak” in first person, but actions and descriptions are usually posted in 3rd person.

So, my work, my character, in first person? As Jay mentioned about his RP, we in “Star Trek: Eternity” also write third person, but speak in first. This could be a challenge, as I haven’t written first person in many years.

I understand! And the few things I HAVE written in first person are too long! *whines* lol Just kidding with the whining, but it’s hard for me to write short stories of under 5,000 words, so this is a complete challenge!

Sorry Kassandra, but if it was any greater than 5,000 there might be just too much for our ninja judges to read!

Oh, it’s no problem; I love the challenge! And I understand completely.
